Dina Hoffman

Counselor

Welcome to my web page!  Here's a little information about me.  I have worked in the field of education as a teacher or counselor for over 25 years, most of those years in Waco ISD schools.  I have taught children as young as 2 and as old as 12.  My own two children are grown now, but I learned a lot of what I know about children from them.  The students I have had over the years have been a blessing to me, and I am privileged to be a small part of their lives.

One of my responsibilities as a counselor is to teach guidance lessons in the classroom.  These lessons are basically reminders of the lessons that they learn from their parents and their teachers.  The lessons are usually based on positive  character traits, citizenship goals, or work habits.  I also make sure students are aware of the dangers of drugs and alcohol, know what to do about bullying, are exposed to the options for secondary schools and colleges, and think about ideas for future career choices.

Another important component of my job is parent involvement.  As the parent involvement coordinator I organize meetings, events and other opportunities for parents of Kendrick students so that they will know about and have a better understanding of their role in the education of their children. Having parents involved in different aspects of the school community shows children that their teachers and parents are working together to help them learn and grow.

Thank you for visiting my website.  If you have any questions or concerns, please give me a call or send me an email.  I would be glad to visit with you!
